The West Alexandria community and beyond are mourning the sudden loss of Dr. John Ulrich, a devoted veterinarian, mentor, and friend. John, owner of Twin Valley Veterinary Services LLC, passed away unexpectedly at home, leaving behind a legacy of care, compassion, and dedication that touched both people and animals throughout Preble County and beyond.

John was a proud West Alexandria native, attending Twin Valley South High School and later pursuing veterinary medicine at Ohio State University. His professional journey included time at the Danville Veterinary Clinic before he and his wife, Danielle Ulrich, built and expanded Twin Valley Veterinary Services, creating a welcoming and family-oriented environment for staff, clients, and pets alike.
Known for his generosity, warmth, and sense of humor, John treated every patient with the utmost care and every client with respect and empathy. His passion for animals was rivaled only by his devotion to his family. He was a loving husband to Danielle and a proud father to his sons Logan, Chandler, and Grant. He celebrated their achievements, shared adventures like fly fishing and family vacations, and cherished every moment together. His family was his greatest joy, and his love for them was evident to all who knew him.
Beyond his immediate family, John had a remarkable ability to make others feel like part of his extended family. Employees, friends, and neighbors recall the countless ways he went above and beyond—whether mentoring his longtime office manager Morgan, setting up nurseries for grandchildren, or sharing laughter and conversation about life and Ohio State football. His office was often filled with children and pets alike, a testament to the welcoming atmosphere he nurtured.
John’s impact extended far beyond his clinic walls. He was a valued member of the Farmersville United Methodist Church and a friend to countless families, colleagues, and animals throughout the community. He exemplified kindness, generosity, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His passing leaves a profound void, but the love, guidance, and joy he shared will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, staff, and the many animals he cared for. Dr. John Ulrich will be remembered not only as an exceptional veterinarian but also as a compassionate, loving, and unforgettable soul.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, love, and family will live on.
